Safmarine, a subsidiary of Maersk Line, has appointed Grant Daly as its new chief executive.
South African-born Daly replaces Tomas Dyrbye, who has been Safmarine boss for the past two and a half years.
The appointment follows the decision of AP Moller-Maersk last October to merge the management functions of Safmarine into Maersk Line in an effort to save money.
Safmarine’s long-time Antwerp base will close as a result and Daly will be based in the new Safmarine headquarters in Copenhagen, where he will report to Hanne B Sorensen, Maersk Line’s chief commercial officer.
