The new management team at Finnish operator Containerships is securing tonnage for its expanding Baltic liner service.

The Helsinki-based carrier, which has appointed Kari-Pekka Laaksonen as its new president and chief executive, has taken two ice-class vessels, the 907-teu Aila and Linda (both built 2007), for 11 months at EUR 5,100 ($6,500) per day.

The move comes as Containerships prepares to incorporate the Polish port of Szczecin in its shortsea network from March.
