According to local government officials, a “coastal shipping promotion fund” has been created with a corpus amount of $50m.
They add that coastal shipping companies operating out of the province can source cheap credit from the fund to acquire vessels.
They have not specified the interest rate at which the government is looking to provide credit, but do claim it will be cheaper and have a longer repayment period than traditional corporate loans.
