The five-strong group of Oslo-listed seismic companies are striking a “cautiously optimistic” tone for 2014 as clients’ efforts to tame budgets for exploration have come into sharp focus this year — but the pressure to retire older seismic vessels is also growing.

Dolphin Geophysical, Polarcus, Seabird Exploration, TGS-Nopec and Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) all gave relatively positive marks to their sector at the annual oil, offshore and shipping conference held by DNB Markets in Oslo.
