India’s Pipavav Defence & Offshore Engineering is looking to offload the last panamax in its orderbook cancelled by its original owner.
TradeWinds is told that the yard will sell the 74,500-dwt ice-class newbuilding (Hull No 0017) to an “undisclosed owner” for about $29m, which represents a strong price in the current market. Some say it is closer to $28m.
Sources both in India and Norway suggest the buyer is Norway’s Golden Ocean Group, which has had a strong relationship with the yard.
