The 167,000-dwt Aquagrace (built 1997) has been taken by EDF for 10 to 14 months at a rate of $24,000 per day.
TradeWinds is told several other charterers considered taking the ship but decided against it given its age and slightly smaller size compared with modern units.
The rate looks attractive for the owner considering how the spot market for capesizes is developing.
