Greek Shipowner Evangelos Marinakis is poised to increase his tanker fleet with two VLCC newbuildings.
Industry players say Marinakis-controlled Capital Maritime is switching two post-panamax containership options at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to VLCCs. A letter of intent (LOI) has been signed, it is said.
TradeWinds is told that Capital inked contracts for four firm 9,443-teu boxships, plus two options, at HHI early this year for delivery between the second half of 2015 and the end of 2016.
