LNG ships in operation number more than 400 for the first time in the history of the sector.

Debate is raging among the community of keen LNG carrier spotters as to which ship was officially the 400th into service. One eagle-eyed source, who keeps a careful watch on the LNG ship fleet tally, names the vessel as Hoegh LNG’s newly delivered floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), the 170,000-cbm PGN FSRU Lampung, which was handed over on 17 April.
