Ardmore snaps up pair of Daiichi Chuo tankers

Double purchase in line with New York-listed company’s strategy of acquiring high-quality MRs that can be upgraded to ‘eco-mod’

Ardmore Shipping has snapped up two medium-range (MR) tankers from Daiichi Chuo in a deal that indicates a softening of prices in the sector.

New York-listed Ardmore announced the purchase of the Onomichi Dockyard-built tankers at $23m each but has not identified the ships or the seller.

Independent shipbrokers tell TradeWinds that they are the 47,500-dwt Atlantic Innovator and Pacific Innovator (both built 2008).
