Emanuele Lauro-led Scorpio has turned its focus towards the containership market.
Industry sources say Scorpio is engaged in newbuilding discussions with South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).
Scorpio is said to have made enquiries for up to six 18,000-teu vessels, with a newbuilding deal possibly wrapped up this summer if “all things go well”.
Sources say Scorpio has Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) in mind as charterer.
