Nordic Tankers is investing heavily in its stainless-steel chemical tanker fleet with up to a dozen newbuildings in China.
The Danish company is splashing out more than $480m on the ships, according to well-placed sources.
TradeWinds is told that Nordic has gone to Yangzhou-based Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding for six 24,000-dwt newbuildings for delivery between 2016 and 2017. The deal includes six options.
