Smith is joining Guy Carpenter as head of marine and energy for Europe, the Middle East and Africa but will also be responsible for all international P&I business.
Smith (49) was a career reinsurance broker with Willis before joining Skuld’s growing London operation as an executive vice-president three years ago.
Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance broking arm of the Marsh insurance broking empire, is looking to expand its P&I business with James Summers, the company’s global head of marine and energy, describing Smith’s “vast network of contacts across the P&I sector” as an asset that should be of great assistance.
