A consortium of Mercator Oil & Gas Ltd, Mercator Offshore Pvt Ltd (both subsidiaries of Mercator Lines) and Gulf Piping Co was awarded the contract to convert ONGC’s 250-feet Sagar Samrat (built 1973) into a MOPU in November 2011.
Delays in both purchasing additional steel and the fabrication of the new legs have pushed delivery back by at least 18 months and increased the estimated $175m cost to as much as $200m.
