Australian mining company Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) has placed an order for four 250,000 dwt very large ore carriers (VLOCs) at China’s CSSC Guangzhou Longxue Shipbuilding.
A source familiar with the deal confirms that the order, hard on the heels of an earlier contract for a quartet of VLOCs, does not include any options.
The state-owned yard is scheduled to deliver two vessels during the second half of 2017 and two more in early 2018.
