Since its founding in 2004 as a fully fledged operator of offshore support vessels (OSVs), not a single year has passed without several Island Offshore newbuildings being under construction — and managing director Haavard Ulstein says that is always likely to be the case.

As it marks its 10th anniversary this year, the private Norwegian owner now has 27 modern ships in operation and seven vessels contracted to be built from now until 2017, which excludes stakes it holds in 11 other vessels with giant partner Edison Chouest Offshore, the largest private OSV owner in the US.
