Shipbuilders are pouring over a tender from Hoegh LNG for up to four floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).

Hoegh has asked yards to quote on two FSRUs, with an option for a further pair, for delivery dates from the first half of 2017 onwards.

Shipbuilding sources say the company is requesting a number of technical options for its planned newbuildings.

Hoegh president and chief executive Sveinung Stohle explains that the outline specifications on the regas units are not that much different from those of the four FSRUs that Hoegh has contracted at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea.
