Interlink Maritime’s appetite for bulker newbuildings continues unabated.
The Carlyle Group-backed owner has ordered up to 10 handysizes worth around $240m and taken options for eight more vessels at other yards.
Informed sources say Interlink has gone to Zhejiang Zengzhou Shipbuilding for five firm 39,000-dwt units priced at $24m apiece in a deal that includes options for five more.
The privately owned shipbuilder is scheduled to deliver the units between late 2015 and mid-2016.
