Chief executive Laxmi Shankar Shukla confirms he wants to buy a medium-range (MR) products tanker for domestic contracts.
He also says the company will acquire a couple of 15,000-dwt coastal tankers in the next few weeks for deployment along the Indian coast.
Shukla says the the tankers will strengthen its position in securing additional long-term domestic contracts.
Transocean has been one of the smaller Indian tanker operators to benefit from the decline of Pratibha Shipping, which had a substantial share of India’s domestic tanker trade.
