Cargo claimants have filed $2.86m-worth of US lawsuits against the owner, manager and carriers associated with a containership that lost boxes at sea earlier this year.

The cases centre around a January journey of the 5,610-teu Suez Canal Bridge (built 2012), which encountered heavy weather while in the Atlantic en route to the US.

The lawsuits target manager Sea Quest Management of the Philippines, registered owner Virgo Carriers, logistics companies and four liner operators: Yang Ming Maritime Transport of Taiwan, K Line of Japan, China’s Cosco Container Line and Hanjin Shipping of South Korea.
