At least six lawsuits have been filed against a Cosco Container Lines (Coscon) ship over cargoes that either went overboard or suffered damage on a December journey.

The first of the cases, all in the US federal court in New York, was lodged in August, and the filings have continued into this month. The claims total $1.29m so far.

The 4,500-teu Cosco Nagoya (built 2008) was off France in the Bay of Biscay when it took a battering from bad weather.
