A private equity-backed container shipping operation set up by Peter Dohle-controlled Hammonia Reederei is acquiring more vessels from Greek owners exiting the sector.
Hammonia ContainerCo is upping the stakes in the wide-beam boxship sector with the $80m-plus acquisition of two 4,896-teu units built at Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding in China.
The Hamburg-based operation is being linked to vessels originally ordered by Greek owner Evalend Shipping, having already purchased a sistership earlier in the year from Paragon Shipping.
