Uncertainties for European buyers over the LNG volumes they are buying from the US could lead to either a glut or deficit of up to 75 LNG carriers by 2020, according to one shipbroker and consultant.
Braemar ACM director of LNG Charlie Peile, who was speaking at this year’s Madrid LNG & Shipping Forum, explained that those who have contracted with US producers face a choice of selling their LNG into the European market where demand is likely to be weak and there are no price guarantees.
