The Indian shipowner disposed of the 147,000-dwt suezmax Gandhar (built 1994) to reduce operating and maintenance costs among its older tonnage.
Senior SCI director Captain Sunil Thapar confirms the Samsung-built suezmax tanker was sold at an auction held in Mumbai.
Although he declines to reveal further details, sources tell TradeWinds that the Gandhar went to local scrappers for around $480 per ldt.
