Jail terms ranging from five to 36 years for the surviving crew of the sunken South Korean ferry Sewol have left both the victims’ families and seafarer organisations crying injustice.
While relatives called for the death penalty after the tragedy in April that claimed more than 400 lives — many of them schoolchildren — crew union Nautilus International reacted with alarm to the punishment.
