Parakou Group is expecting to continue reaping the benefits of its historical close connection to China, even as China promotes nationalistic shipping and shipbuilding policies.
“Although they have a policy of ‘one country, two systems’, they still take care of their Hong Kong,” Parakou founder CC Liu (Liu Chengchan) told TradeWinds.
That applies in particular to the policy of “Chinese cargo in Chinese ships” that has recently taken the form of an expansion in newbuilding plans by Chinese state-owned companies (see also pages 42 and 43).
