Eagle’s new board has installed a longtime financier — AMA Capital Partners’ Paul Leand — as chairman while leaving Zoullas to steer the company as chief executive only.

However, Eagle management embraced the move in a statement to TradeWinds this week, describing it as a unanimous vote to incorporate best practices in corporate governance.

“Splitting the chief executive and chairman roles continues to gain favor from a corporate governance perspective, and we are pleased that Eagle Bulk’s board is structured accordingly,” said an Eagle spokesman.

Eagle
