Navig8 has secured judgment against an affiliate of fellow Singapore tanker operator Star Maritime but dismissed claims against Hong Kong’s Nan Fung Shipping.
Justice Nigel Teare, of the High Court’s Queens Bench division, held that Star Maritime Management Co (SMMC) is liable to Navig8 for “breach of an implied warranty of authority”. But he also ruled that SMMC never had Nan Fung’s authority to charter a quartet of tankers on its behalf.
