The South Korean line is said to have secured two 1,800-teu vessels ordered last week by Greece’s Cosmoship Management at Dae Sun Shipbuilding.

It is thought that the ships could be used on joint services with fellow Korean carrier Heung-A Shipping, with which KMTC operates an intra-Asian loop.

Heung-A already has one 1,800-teu boxship on order from Dae Sun for delivery in December 2016, and has taken another two on charter from Dong-A Tanker that are scheduled for delivery just a few months earlier.
