The 46,000-dwt Champion Spirit (built 1991) has gone to Gobel Marine of Nigeria for $6.5m. Champion has replaced it with the 3 Maj-built, 46,000-dwt Pula (built 2006), purchased from Borealis of the UK. Renamed Champion Pula, it is valued at between $18m and $19m and is the newest in the Champion fleet.
The off-market deal, brokered by NorthCape Capital in Oslo, was structured as a bareboat hire with purchase options.
