Chennai-based provision supplier Poseidon Shipstores (India) won the order at the High Court of Gujarat last week, with Justice Shailesh R Brahmbhatt ruling that the ship’s owner must deposit around INR 2.13m ($360,000) to secure its release.

The Indonesian vessel is owned by Jakarta-based Pann Persero PT but is leased to PT Meranti Bahari, a Jakarta-based dry bulk operator.

Day in court

Poseidon managing director Syed Sabaullah told the court that it had supplied provisions to the ship and its sistership, the 75,200-dwt Kayu Eboni (built 1995), following a request by its owner.
