Moves are afoot to restart exports of crude oil from Iran to Western buyers following the lifting of international sanctions but the first VLCC shipments are expected to take some time to emerge, as a number of hurdles remain to be overcome.

Tanker brokers, many of whom attended National Iranian Tanker Co (NITC)’s special conference and 60th anniversary event in Tehran last weekend, said Iran first needs to discharge some of the condensate that is has been storing in its shoreside tanks to make way for crude volumes.

A
