Zelada, who headed up the state oil giant’s international division, was convicted of accepting tens of millions of dollars in bribery payments in the sentence handed down by Brazilian federal judge Sergio Fernando Moro, who has gained national fame for his work in Operacao Lava Jato.

Judge Moro ruled that Zelada hid money in undeclared bank accounts abroad after taking bribes in 2009 in exchange for awarding a Petrobras contract to Vantage Drilling’s drillship Titanium Explorer, writes Reuters.
