AM Best warns that a mixture of record free reserves and challenging conditions for shipowners is resulting in intense competition, with premium levels under pressure.
The ratings agency predicts the underwriting discipline of the P&I clubs will be an issue over the current renewal season.
“The next 24 months are set to be a testing period for the P&I clubs,” said AM Best.
