A change in trade flows for the chemical methanol is creating a mini-boom for tankers equipped to handle the product.
The US historically imported about five million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of methanol, which has uses in petrochemicals and motor fuels, with most of those imports coming from Trinidad and Jose, Venezuela.
But the abundance of shale-based natural gas has spurred more US production of methanol.
