The oversupplied drilling market has taken in another idled drillship, after US-listed oil super-major ExxonMobil decided to terminate the contract early for one of Oslo-listed Norwegian rig owner Seadrill’s units.
The contract was signed in much better market times for Seadrill’s sixth-generation drillship West Capella (built 2008), which was working off Nigeria for ExxonMobil on block OML 128 in the Usan field.
