The Imabari-built, 181,000-dwt Shining Dragon (built 2012) has been sold for $25m. The identity of the buyer had not been disclosed at TradeWinds’ press time.
As a comparison, Alpha Bulkers paid $23.3m for a sistership, the Obelix (built 2011), so the Shining Dragon deal does not indicate a substantial value increase even for Japanese-built bulkers. TradeWinds could not obtain comments from Daiichi before presstime.
