China’s Jinhai Heavy Industry is said to have won more than $600m-worth of VLCC newbuilding contracts in an internal transaction with parent HNA Group.
Newbuilding brokers say the HNA-controlled shipyard will build up to eight vessels in the deal. Although market sources identify former HNA subsidiary GC Tankers as placing the order, company sources say it is an internal contract with another HNA party as owner.
