The Japenese-run ship was last week reported sold to an undisclosed buyer for $5.5m.
Sea Pioneer is traditionally a tanker owner and owns four medium-range (MR) vessels delivered by China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC) between 2010 and 2014. The ships are trading in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.
Dry bulk comeback
Last year, the company made a comeback in dry bulk after a four-year absence.
