The rate for the newbuilding, which was delivered last month, is understood to be $15,000 per day.
Last year, Laurin sold the 46,000-dwt tanker Tosca (built 2004) and took it back on charter. It has also had a pair of MR tankers built in 2002 and a 2003 for sale but no deal has been completed. In 2014, Laurin cancelled a contract for up to four MR tankers at troubled Samjin Shipbuilding in China.
