A fight over Hanjin Shipping’s ability to use its bankruptcy proceedings to block lawsuits targeting its vessels has continued in the US.

But maritime lawyers are doubtful that the judge overseeing its Chapter 15 case will stray from his preference for sweeping aside impediments to unloading the South Korean operator’s ships.

This week, World Fuel Services joined several other claimants in insisting that service providers with maritime liens should be free to arrest Hanjin-chartered ships or at least receive protections for their claims in the US Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey.
