A new ship type will come live next month, with the delivery of the world’s first very large ethane carrier (VLEC) for Indian owner Reliance Industries.
South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries is due to hold a naming ceremony in the last week of October for the first of six 87,000-cbm VLECs.
TradeWinds understands the vessel, which along with its sisters can also carry LPG, is scheduled to leave the shipyard at the end of next month, with Reliance taking delivery in advance of gas trials.
