Brokers say that nine companies, including one Indian owner, have offered in nine suezmax tankers to SCI.
They say Teekay Tankers, Eastern Pacific Shipping and India’s Great Eastern Shipping are among those involved.
Earlier this month, SCI had floated the tender for a second-hand suezmax as it steps up efforts to expand its fleet.
Offers closed on 12 September, with SCI looking to buy a suezmax of between 140,000 dwt and 160,000 dwt, and between seven and 11 years old.
