Philippines port operator ICTSI is to dredge the Congo river to open ports to mainline ships.
The company said it will work with Dredging International to deepen the river to an eventual 40ft-plus in the DR Congo.
"This will eliminate current draught restrictions in the Divagante area near Boma, and enable direct calls by mainline vessels at the ports of Matadi and Boma," it said.
