Ken Bloch Soerensen-led Algoma Central has bought four bulk carriers from American Steamship Company in an effort to expand its fleet at a good price.
The Canadian shipowner has acquired the 23,894-dwt Buffalo (built 1978); the 28,631-dwt Adam E. Cornelius (built 1973); the 25,455-dwt American Valor (built 1953); and the 27,112-dwt American Victory (built 1943).
"The availability of these vessels presented an opportunity to expand Algoma's vessel fleet and capacity at extremely attractive values," the company said.
