Low-profile Greek player FGM Chartering has acquired its third handysize bulker since early last year, maintaining a steady expansion drive focused on Japanese-built tonnage.

The deal is characteristic of the rekindling appetite for bulkers amid falling values, especially by Greek buyers and for smaller tonnages.

Managers at Piraeus-based FGM told TradeWinds that their company is behind the purchase of the 24,800-dwt Glorious Future (built 2006), a ship previously owned by Japan’s Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, at a price close to $4m.
