Glencore, the world's largest commodities trader and a major charterer, is being investigated by UK authorities for alleged bribery.
The Swiss giant confirmed the probe Thursday but declined to say anything further.
"Glencore has been notified today that the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has opened an investigation into suspicions of bribery in the conduct of business of the Glencore group," the London-listed trader said in a statement.
