Would it be viable to fuel open-hatch bulk carriers with green ammonia on transatlantic voyages and how might it be done?

That is the question that Grieg Maritime of Norway and its industry partners will seek to answer this year in a new feasibility study.

Grieg may decide to retrofit its 11-vessel fleet of L-class, 50,000-dwt open-hatch bulkers to run on green ammonia, if the study finds that it would be a viable way to decarbonise its vessel operations.
