Bangladeshi ship recyclers may not have bought any tonnage over the past week, but the arrival of a handymax bulker and a car carrier onto the beach at Chattogram has brought to light two previously unreported deals.

Mariner Associates CTG, a Chattaogram-based shipowner with a fleet of 12 handymax and supramax bulker, sold the 45,700-dwt bulk carrier Abdullah (built 1996) in a deal done directly with Kabir Steel Re-rolling Mills, one of Bangladesh’s few Hong Kong Convention recycling facilities.
