The Algerian government is considering options for the revival of state-owned multipurpose vessel company CNAN Nord after its last ship was taken out of action last month.

The 9,500-dwt, 681-teu Sedrata (built 2011) was detained in Antwerp, Belgium, joining the company’s six other vessels on the sidelines.

A management shake-up and merger with sister container line CNAN Med is now on the cards.
