Start-up Viridis Bulk Carriers and its partners are banking NOK 13.75m ($1.53m) in Norwegian state funding to develop ammonia-fuelled vessels.
The cash comes from the Pilot-E programme as the group of shipowners and cargo owners try to realise a carbon-free shortsea service for the Flexbulk design.
Pilot-E is a collaboration between the Norwegian Research Council, Innovation Norway and state decarbonisation agency Enova.
